About 47-54 GMC Chevy Truck Parts

The 1947-1954 Chevy and GMC pickups are the Advance Design trucks, GM’s first postwar redesign and the platform restorers know by its 3100 factory designation. Seventy years on, the panels that rust are predictable, and that is what most of this catalog is built around. Everything here is cut and formed for the Advance Design cab and bed, so there is no universal-fitment guesswork.

Bead rolled sheet metal we make ourselves

As factory panels age out, these are the replacements we form in the shop:

  • Bead rolled firewalls, kick panels and upper cowl fillers
  • Aluminum door panels
  • Transmission tunnels and inner fender extensions for the engine bay
  • Speaker brackets cut to the factory speaker openings
  • Tailgate and truck bed hardware — see all our tailgate upgrades

Billet and interior

Billet aluminum door handles, AC and heater vents and control panels, and the Sparc Industries 3100 billet steering wheel cut for this column. For the interior itself, White Wolf’s ABS headliners, door panels and kick panels cover the 1947-55 cab, and the upholstered interior kit bundles seat covers, door panel upholstery and headliner into one matched vinyl package.

Bolt-in upgrades

Altman door and hood latch kits for both the 47-51 and 52-54 cabs, including door-swap kits if you are running a mismatched cab and door combination. Nu-Relic power window kits, a RainGear hidden windshield wiper system that takes the motor and linkage off the cowl, Custom Autosound radios for the factory dash opening, and United Pacific LED lighting. Running the fuel filler somewhere else, or building electric? The fuel filler charging port fills the factory opening with an SAE charge port or a kill switch.

If this is not your era

Advance Design ran through the 1954 model year. The 1955 second-series trucks moved to the Task Force cab — a different windshield and a different firewall — so start at 55-59 Chevy and GMC truck parts instead.

Not sure which year you have? Our Chevy truck VIN decoder reads the serial plate on 1947-55 trucks and tells you the model year, series and plant.
