ACI Motors Are Reverse Polarity
The ground for this system must come from the master switch. The motor has 2 poles. To make it operate, put power to one side and ground to the other — not to the motor case. This turns the motor in one direction. Swap the wires from side to side, and the direction changes.
Fuses or Circuit Breakers — 30 AMP
Most of our harnesses come with an in-line 30 AMP fuse. A circuit breaker works too, if you prefer it.
You can power your windows from a few different sources. Options include running straight to the battery (windows shouldn't draw power when not in use), finding an extra slot in your fuse panel and tying in with the supplied fuse, or pulling power from the key-on side of the switch.
Relays
In most cases, you won't need a relay to boost amperage to the motors — our switches and wiring handle the amp draws on their own.
If you're using old-style 3-pole switches, you'll need a special relay to reverse the polarity at the motor. These don't increase amperage; they just swap the ground from side to side. We have these available prewired — call us at 336-699-8949 for assistance.
Grease & Oil
1. On the regulator gear teeth and roller tracks, use a high-temp automotive wheel bearing and chassis lubricant. NLGI grade 2 is one option.
2. Avoid older soap-based lithium grease — it sets up hard in cold weather and makes the windows harder to move.
3. A few drops of lightweight oil at the pivot points let the Bronze Oilite® bushings run smoothly and reduce wear.
4. For fuzzy runs and weather stripping, 3M silicone spray can help with break-in.
5. Use dielectric grease or Tuner Lube on all terminals and connections to protect against moisture and corrosion.
