1973-87 Squarebody Tailgate Parts

A Squarebody tailgate almost always fails in the same order: the plastic release handle cracks, the cables stretch and fray, and then the gate drops and bends its own trunnions. Doing it in that order is cheaper than doing it after. All four parts are here — the billet release handle for 73-80, cables for 73-87, the latch kit for 76-87, and trunnion / hinge kits for 73-87.

Tailgate saver shocks are the part that stops the cycle repeating: they carry the weight of the gate so the cables are not the only thing holding it, and the cable / saver combo for 67-87 is the way most people buy them. For the face of the gate, the raised license plate bracket clears a roll pan, the Tail Light Fuel Filler Kit for 73-91 hides the filler behind the tail light, and the sequential LED tail lights with trim for 1973-87 sit either side of it.
