Tailgate Cables – 73-87 GMC Chevy Squarebody C10 Truck
Our New Tailgate cables replace your old noisy metal tailgate straps on your classic truck. This direct replacement cable are an easy 5 minute install. No more rattles, rust and or paint flaking off.
*Please measure your current strap length to verify someone hasn't swapped out the tailgate, latches and or striker plates with ones from a different year.
- ✅ 1973-75 is 15.5" from center of eyelet to center of slotted pin on tailgate. Reference picture.
- ✅ 1976-87 is 16" from center of eyelet to center of slotted pin on tailgate.
Cables come with all necessary mounting hardware.
- ✅ If you're using our Gen 1 Gate saver (Bigger Diameter: 18.3mm) 1 Cable is needed (passenger side).
- ✅ If using our Gen 2 Gate Saver (Smaller Diameter: 15.3mm) 2 Cables can be used (one on each side of your tailgate).
May require slight filing on slotted end due to slight variances in slot width

The tailgate supports appear to be of the highest quality and craftsmanship and were a perfect fit! I am very happy with the product and they were easy to install with the help of the installation video.. email communication was fast and friendly and I couldn’t ask for a better experience! I did have to pay a little bit of import Duty and tax to bring them to Canada but that is to be expected and I may lose a couple points for being non-original but I don’t care because I combined them with a set of Delrin non-removable tailgate bushings so no one can steal my tailgate and things should be all quiet back there now!.. thanks LS Fab!😃

The 16” cable work well on my ‘79 GMC truck. I did have to open up the slot about 0.010” of an inch to fit on the stud of the tailgate. I also used loctite on the threads as well as staked the end so it doesn’t loosen up. I would buy again.
