This taillight fuel filler moves the gas filler on a 1967–1972 Chevrolet or GMC C10 out of sight, behind a hinged taillight. It is a clean alternative to dropping the cap into the bed floor, and it relocates the stock filler without cutting up the bedside.

Fitment notes
Taillight fuel filler kits may not work with fuel nozzles that have a vapour sealing device or pressure seal, like the ones used in California. Refer to the photos for what is included in the kit.

Not included
- 1.5" ID fuel filler hose and the clamps to hold it - both are ordinary parts-store items.
- The fuel tank and sending unit. A side fill tank is the easiest thing to plumb the neck into.
- Taillights and lenses. Your originals bolt back onto the laser cut mounting holes, or add the LED pair at the top of the page.
- Paint or coating. The assembly ships in bare steel, tacked together, so you can adjust it to your own bed before it goes in for good.

Installation
LS Fabrication does not currently offer a hose or plumbing kit for connecting the taillight fuel filler to the tank. All plumbing design, routing and installation is the installer's responsibility.
The filler does not vent the tank. Venting has to come from the tank itself, so an aftermarket tank needs an adequate vent system. Without one you can get slow filling, fuel splash-back or the pump shutting off.

Common questions
Does the kit come with taillights?
Not by default. The kit is the filler assembly, the polished 1.5" stainless filler neck, the roller bearing taillight hinge, the stainless mounting hardware and the push magnet. LED taillights and reverse lights are an add-on option at the top of the page, each sold as a pair with a flasher included.
What do I need to plumb it to the tank?
The hose or tube between the filler and the tank is not in the kit - we do not offer a plumbing kit, so the routing and connection are up to the installer. Keep the run as straight as you can, with as much downward slope from the neck to the tank as possible. The filler does not vent the tank either: the tank needs its own vent, or you can get slow filling, splash-back and the pump shutting off.
Will it work with every gas pump?
It may not work with fuel nozzles that carry a vapour sealing or pressure seal device, which some states require - California pumps are the usual example. It is best used with standard nozzles.
Do I have to weld it in?
The assembly arrives pre-formed and spot welded with the sides tacked in place, so the shaping is done. Fitting it to your bed still calls for welding it into the panel, and the tacked construction is deliberate so you can adjust it slightly to your own truck first.

How long before it ships?
It is a stock item and generally ships within 1-3 business days. Carrier transit time is on top of that, and larger orders can arrive in more than one box on different days.

I made a couple of alterations. I had to cut approximately 3/16 off the top to make it fit under the backup light. I also epoxied a 3/32 strip of metal to the bottom of the door below the hinge and tapped it for the screw for the taillight. I also drilled a hole in the bottom to accommodate a rubber grommet for the wiring. The LED taillights required some filing and sanding to make them fit. The original lenses are slightly tapered which the LED’s are straight. It took a lot of finessing in order to get it to open and close like shown in the installation video but it still fits quite snug. I’m not sure if the taillights on my 72 blazer are slightly narrower and vertically shorter than the aftermarket truck the was used in the video. I like the concept but the installation didn’t go nearly as easy as in the video. Without having previous experience in fabrication and having all of the tools required, it may have posed a significant challenge. One more suggestion is to have a few more welds along the top portion as there were some fairly large gaps that I had to address.

Well I am no body guy. And never put one of these in before but was trying to do more for the customer. And the video on line that they posted was a big help, I prepped the taillight pocket Friday.
