About 88-98 GMC Chevy OBS Truck Parts

The 1988-1998 Chevy and GMC trucks were built on GM’s GMT400 platform. Enthusiasts call them OBS, short for Old Body Style, a name that stuck once the GMT800 trucks arrived. They are now one of the most heavily modified platforms on the road, and this catalog leans into that: billet hardware machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and the hidden upgrades this generation is known for.

Billet hardware we machine ourselves

  • Billet hood hinges, door strikers and pillar emblems
  • Door jamb vents
  • Billet gauge inlays for the cluster
  • Radiator brackets for the engine bay

The hidden upgrades

Our hidden taillight fuel filler kit routes the fuel filler behind the taillight, so the bedside loses its fuel door entirely. It needs the housing welded into the taillight pocket, so plan it into the bodywork rather than a weekend. The Gate Saver strut stops the tailgate dropping with a bang, works with factory cables, and installs without welding.

Lighting and bolt-ons

LED headlight upgrades are one of the biggest single improvements on an OBS truck — the factory sealed beams are dim by any modern standard. We carry those alongside the rest of United Pacific’s LED lighting for the GMT400, plus hood strut kits and CVF billet hood hinges in the 88-98 fitment.

If this is not your era

OBS replaced the 1973-87 Squarebody. If you are on the compact side of the lineup instead, see S10 truck parts.
