Description
This kit moves the gas cap out of the bed floor and into the taillight housing on a 1973–1991 Chevy or GMC squarebody. It's a hidden filler that still opens where you can reach it, and the panels are designed from 3D scan and CAD data so the shape follows the bed you already have.

A direct replacement for your original tail light, made to fit squarebody Chevy trucks. Sold as a pair with the required LED turn signal flasher.

Optional gas filler delete
Our gas filler delete for 1973–78 and 1979–87 GM/Chevy trucks is a panel formed to fit exactly where the filler neck used to be. Weld it in to shave the gas filler hole on the driver side of the cab. Laser cut from 16-gauge steel.
Fitment notes
Taillights are not included unless you select them. The kit works with stock GM lights and LED taillights, but not LMC aftermarket lights. It may also not work with fuel nozzles that carry a vapor-sealing or pressure-seal device, as some states require — it's best used with standard nozzles.

- 1.5" ID fuel filler hose and clamps.
- The fuel tank and sending unit.
- LED taillights and the gas filler delete panel, unless you add them at the top of the page. The panels work with stock GM lights as they are.
- Paint or powder coat. The steel is uncoated on purpose so it is ready to finish.

Installation
Plan on extending the taillight wiring. A joiner tube isn't included because tank manufacturers vary — source fuel-grade line to join the filler spout to your tank, or fabricate a tube with rubber couplers on either end. The printable template and instructions are linked in the description.
LS Fabrication doesn't offer a hose or plumbing kit between the filler and the tank, so all plumbing design, routing and installation are the installer's responsibility. The kit doesn't provide tank venting either — your fuel tank needs its own adequate vent system, or you can end up with slow filling, splash-back or pump shutoff.

Common questions
Does the kit come with taillights?
Not by default. It works with LED taillights or the stock GM lights, and a pair of LED sequential taillights, sold with the required flasher, is an option at the top of the page. Plan on extending the taillight wiring either way.
What do I need to plumb it to the tank?
The hose or tube between the filler and the tank is not in the kit - we do not offer a plumbing kit, so the routing and connection are up to the installer. Keep the run as straight as you can, with as much downward slope from the neck to the tank as possible. The filler does not vent the tank either: the tank needs its own vent, or you can get slow filling, splash-back and the pump shutting off.
Will it work with every gas pump?
It may not work with fuel nozzles that carry a vapour sealing or pressure seal device, which some states require - California pumps are the usual example. It is best used with standard nozzles.
How do I know it fits my truck?

How long before it ships?
It is a stock item and generally ships within 1-3 business days. Carrier transit time is on top of that, and larger orders can arrive in more than one box on different days.
What if it is not right for the truck?
You have 30 days from delivery to request a return. The part needs to come back new, uninstalled and in its original packaging - once a part has been trimmed or welded it cannot go back. Return shipping is at your cost, and we ask that returns come by Canada Post. Made-to-order, sale and clearance items are final sale. The full terms are on our returns page.
